I like the quirky sense of fun that underlines this story. Lady Betty's dry, witty sense of humour made me smile. Edward is charming, although far removed from an alpha Regency rake. This story is often sensual but has the ambience of a gentle, traditional historical romance. More historical details would make this story more atmospheric. The plot is simple but it becomes increasingly complex with a series of convoluted marriage proposals and mixed signals that keep you guessing.

Interesting characters, lovely country house setting and a nice mix of romance, sensuality and fun counter the difficult circumstances Betty and Edward find themselves in. A suitably dramatic ending and the epilogue ensures the desired happy ever after.

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
